RUM LYD LYD RUM – ENG

During the spring 2016 Kirstine and Niels have been be working with the students at Lygten and Guldberg School on Nørrebro in Copenhagen.

The project is supported by the Danish Arts Foundation and the companies AUDIOCASE and Minirig are kindly endorsing some of their great wireless speakers.

Together with the students we've investigated the sounds that sorround us and recorded them. We caught the sounds we think have qualities we could use; low, high, great, cool, fun, exciting, funny, strange or even irritating. We worked together in smaller groups and learned how to change the sounds into music using tablets.

We finished the project with
moving the music around the room with small movable speakers in a self-invented choreography, with emphasis on omving freely and having fun as opposed to executing a very specific or choreographd dance.

It has been a fun and different journey that connected our bodies with the sounds that surround us in a whole new way ... A big thank you to all the students and teachers involved!

The course is a continuation of the researchproject hello? And we look forward to hear and work with the students' own ideas, to inspire each other and of course to make good music and challenge our bodies with choreography we create together.
